regress testing fails: can't find technotes

Dan Langille
I think the technotes file has been removed from the code base. This is causing regression testing to fail.  From what I can tell, the failures started sometime on or before 3 March 2015.

Rather than post all 2000 lines of output, please see : https://gist.github.com/dlangille/e7b4a247c4a0455c2407#file-gistfile1-txt-L937

In brief:

install: technotes: No such file or directory
*** [install] Error code 71

Hope this helps.

Perhaps bacula/Makefile.in around line 38 needs to be updated. If I remove technotes from that line, regression testing is started.

Hello Dan,

Is this a problem in the last 7.0.5 release or only in the git repository?

Note, technotes has for quite some time been replaced by ReleaseNotes and ChangeLog.  ReleaseNotes contains a short version of ChangeLog that should be sufficient for most people.  ChangeLog is generated directly from git output so is an automated form of the old technotes.

I have now fixed the problem in the current source and pushed it to the git repository. I must admit that I haven't done a regression test on the current 7.0.x source stream for some time, because the changes have really been rather minor (at least so I thought).  However, as noted in the next paragraph, during July and early August, I will be doing significant testing.

For all users of the public git repository, please note that I will do a major backport from the Bacula Enterprise Edition in July 2016, so until early August the repo could experience some instability -- hopefully minor problems, if any.

Thanks,
Kern
